Celebration in the Oaks

November 25 - January 1

This holiday season, head to New Orleans City Park to experience a spectacular light show, delicious food, amusement park rides, and family fun.

City Park’s Celebration in the Oaks is a New Orleans winter wonderland filled with magical holiday lights, decorated Christmas trees, and amusement park rides. The annual family-friendly celebration begins November 25th and runs until January 1st (exceptions below) and is guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit.

Since its beginnings as a fundraiser in 1984, Celebration in the Oaks has grown into a holiday event not-to-be-missed in New Orleans. Occurring every year after Thanksgiving, the festival is a family-friendly tradition with incredible light displays featured year after year. Thousands of visitors experience the magic each year and help to fundraise for New Orleans City Park.

Event Information

The event is located inside of New Orleans City Park, with the action happening throughout the Amusement Park and Botanical Gardens. Enjoy the spectacular lights, Christmas trees, rides and the train tour throughout the grounds. In the Botanical Gardens, you will find the largest display of lights -- half a million total -- featuring different themed light installations such as The Cajun Night Before Christmas and the Dripping Snow Tree. Photos with Santa may be taken in the Gazebo behind the Carousel.
